For seven years I've been the Chair of Brighton-based young people's writing charity, Little Green Pig. We support children and young people to develop writing skills, confidence and communication skills, and believe passionately in working to improve young people's wellbeing and life chances, giving them space to grow, inspire their imaginations and find their voice. For over 10 years we've worked across East and West Sussex in areas of need with more than 5,500 children and young people between 6 - 18 years. I believe that something special happens when a young person is given a chance to tell their story, to shape their own narrative, and to listen to others do the same. Being confident with words sets up a fabulous journey for life and opens so many doors and possibilities - as a writer, I've been so lucky to have that opportunity, and I'm passionate about giving others the same chance.
