Story

Blood Cancer has had a huge impact on the lives of our families. Pete and Lauren are running in memory of two wonderful people who are no longer with us - Diane and Tommy. This year they are taking on the London Marathon in costume (specifically the X-Men Wolverine and Rogue) to raise money for Blood Cancer UK.

Pete’s Mum, Diane Wood, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and fought valiantly for 7 years before passing away in 2017. Her incredible will kept her going to see both her sons get married and three of her four grandchildren born in those 7 years!

Lauren’s father-in-law, Brian ‘Tommy’ Thomas, was diagnosed with pure red cell aplasia in the first half of 2020, and sadly passed away in December 2020 after contracting Covid-19 whilst receiving treatment in hospital. His love of music and theatre is legendary, and his joy of performance means he would have enjoyed the spectacle of his daughter in law running a marathon in costume!
