Story
Both stores have decided to do Elf Week not Elf Day (surely a whole week is more fun?!) for Alzheimer's and Dementia. Our goal is simple, to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity.
Julie (Store Manager Merthyr Tydfil) is currently living with Dementia in her family, her father in law is battling this disease and Julie has had to come to terms with living with someone who has this disease. Julie knows first hand the effect that dementia has on all family member's not just the person who's ill. She has watched a strong, proud man, the head of his family, lose his independence and is experiencing the strain it puts on the family. It was Julie's idea to fundraise this December, for her father in law.
Nicole (Store Manager Port Talbot) lost her grandmother 8 years ago after a long battle against dementia. She watched a strong, independent woman fade away, not knowing who was sitting with her, repeating the same stories, disappear before her eyes. She didn't hesitate to sign up and help Julie on her quest to fundraise for this amazing charity.
This disease needs to be stopped, and it needs to be stopped now. With your help we can get one step closer. It's time for a cure.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
