Story

update 04/06/2022: Alhamdulilah we completed the trek and reached our target. JazakAllah khair to all those who have donated. May Allah accept all your duas, encouragement and contribution to the mosque. We will close this fundraising page in a couple of days.

On the 2nd June 2022, we will be doing a sponsored trek of Pen Y Fan - the highest peak in Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. The money raised from this will go towards building a mosque in Zanzibar. Pen Y Fan is 886 metres above sea level and the whole trek will be approximately 28 miles or 45 kilometres.

We have done some walking in preparation for the trek in the last
month. One hike in Epping Forest which did not go to plan and one
through Farnborough and Hazlewood (see pictures below). Overall, it has been a
good learning experience for us and it gave us some helpful
information to take into account on our actual mountain trek.
It will still be quite a challenge but at least now we know what to
expect. we only have a few days left to raise the rest of the
money so please donate generously.

The Zanzibar Archipelago is a group of islands owned by the United
Republic of Tanzania. It is home to a population of 1.5 million, 99%
of which is Muslim. It also has around 22,000 Christians. The official
language of Zanzibar is Swahili but many of the residents alo speak
Arabic. As you may know, Zanzibar is in a third world country so about
half of the citizens live in the poverty line and the overall average
annual income is 2500 US dollars, which is equivalent to £1840.38.
The locals have also been affected by climate change due to
increasing temperatures and wind speed which destroys yield
from seaweed farming which is a residential source of income.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said “Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.” By donating, your sins will be forgiven, increasing your chances of getting into Jannah, Insha Allah.

Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.

Please donate generously. Not eligible for Zakat.
