Story
This event was postponed due to covid but now I'm on it!!
I'll be doing the actual Run, Walk, Crawl in the 24th August 2022!!!! Yay!!!!
Well where do I start. I've always wanted to do a serious challenge for this amazing charity. So in 2019 I decided to apply for the London Marathon. I didn't get picked for the 2020 marathon so I thought well what can I do? Obviously I thought doing about twice the distance would be the answer !!???!!
The Bude group of Animal Free Research UK raise funds for any work being undertaken by Professor Lorna Harries and team at the University of Exeter Medical School, which is funded by Animal Free Research UK. This includes research under the banner of the Animal Replacement Centre (ARC 2.0) as well as other discrete projects.
Lorna holds a personal Chair in Molecular Genetics at the University of Exeter College of Medicine and Health. She has interests in the regulation of gene expression and how this impacts human diseases such as type 2 diabetes and other age-related disorders.
We have many pets at our home, two dogs named Nish and Smidge, a cat, Robbin and 4 rabbits, Hyacinth, Rose, Daisy and Violet, to name just a few. I'd be really distraught to think of them being harmed in any way but it's cats, dogs, rabbits and many other animals which are being researched on regularly and I would like to see an end to this.
Animal Free Research UK is driving ethical, evidence based research to fight, prevent and cure human diseases by investing in the most innovative research which focuses on humans without the use of animals, creating a future where animals are no longer used in medical research, where scientists focus on new techniques which are human relevant, giving better outcomes for everyone, people and animals alike. With your support, we can advance human health and end the use of animals in medical research, forever.
