I (Penny) have danced salsa on Brighton Bandstand, with Renewable World Vice Chair Sarah Donnelly for the last 7 years, so I can vouch for the genuinely life-changing projects their passionate and committed team implement for some of the poorest people around the world. 

Using solar power, for example, they pump water into people's villages so they no longer have to walk miles every day to fetch it. As a hiker myself, it's unthinkable to carry tonnes of water on my back up steep mountains slopes (Nepal) or across scorched earth (Kenya) day in day out just to survive. They also bring safe solar light into homes, so children can study for school, and into businesses (like village shops) so they can stay open after dark and make more money - all of which help families to avoid breathing air from poisonous fuels and enable them to lift themselves out of the poverty trap.
