Story
We're back! This year I'm recruiting other's to fundraise with me, so it's a march of the Penguin's.
For those of you who are late to the story so far...
In January 2023 I was able to raise £1,030 for Parkinson's UK, in two weeks, before taking part in the Ultra Challenge London Winter Walk.
I genuinely thought not many people would donate, so, as an incentive I said if I was able to hit £500 I would dress up as a Penguin. Very quickly I was ordering a costume.
Walking?

Yep! Nice, leisurely 10K walk round central London. I've got a dodgy back, so I wanted to make it accessible for as many people as possible.
There might be a coordinated roast dinner at the end too...
What's Parkinson's? Why are we raising money for them?
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.
My dad was diagnosed when I was a teenager, it severely affected his movement and later his memory.
Sadly, he passed away in 2018 from the disease. In his memory, I decided to organise an event which can help spread awareness of the disease, whilst having a bit of fun!
...why penguins?
Great question! Handful of reasons. The main being that it was one animal I associated with my dad, as he would waddle around the house with me as a bambino on his feet.
It helps that it fits in with the winter theme!
Which charity are you supporting?

Parkinson's UK and Sport Parkinson's are proud to be working in partnership to provide access to physical activity and exercise for individuals, groups and communities to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of all people affected by Parkinson's. Over the course of the next 3 years we are aiming to raise £175,000 for the Parkinson's UK Active Community Grants Programme.
