Story
The staff on our unit have decided to take 2022 by the horns and we’ve set ourselves a challenge! The aim being that on Saturday 30th April we will walk the Pendle 3 Peaks, these being Pendle hill, Boulsworth hill and Weets hill walking and climbing 4,825 feet or 1,471 meters!
As a team we work hard to provide the best care we possibly can for our patients on the Primrose unit at Burnley and one of the things we offer is a scalp cooling service for patients who may lose their hair due to chemotherapy. This is a cold cap which is worn during some chemotherapy treatments, and which can help to prevent hair loss. The aim of the walk is to raise as much money as we can to buy a new one whilst also getting outside in the fresh air, improving our fitness, and having some fun!
With only 14 weeks to go we are preparing with training plans including fitness classes, swimming, gym sessions, running and of course plenty of walking! We’re also eating more healthily and have downloaded the free NHS weight loss and easy meals apps for extra support.
We believe we work well as a team on the Primrose Unit. We are dedicated to our patients, and we keep each other going through what, as we know, are very difficult times for everyone. Please support us if you can.
