Story
Peel L&P are a proud patron of Bolton Lads and Girls Club, an amazing organisation who support thousands of young people and their families across Bolton. The current cost of living crisis is adding extra pressure to those families already experiencing existing poverty, including food poverty. BLGC are witnessing young people storing food for themselves or other siblings, unsure of when their next meal will be, skipping meals or going the whole day without eating, which effects their overall health and wellbeing and engagement in education or employment. The club are therefore dedicated to ensuring every child and young person receives a free nutritious hot meal everyday. Last month within their central Bolton Youth Centre, Infinity, they provided over 2,400 free nutritious hot meals for young people.
Peel L&P runners have chosen to raise vital funds for BLGC in the Manchester 10km to enable the club to face a difficult year of food poverty among their young people. We are aiming to raise around £1000. A donation of £1200 would cover hot meals at the club for two weeks and up to £2,400 would help cover the cost for a months’ worth of food to ensure their children and young people do not go hungry.
