Story
The Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery is fundraising for UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation because our division’s important work depends on the generosity of donors.
Since the 1950s, the Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has been providing innovative and multidisciplinary care for infants, children, teens, and young adults with acquired or congenital problems of the head and neck, trunk, and upper and lower extremities.
We provide compassionate, complete care and education to children and families with conditions that impair function and with conditions that are appearance-related with psychological effects. We offer craniofacial surgery, as well as in reconstructive surgery of the extremities.
We are only able to continue to provide these services thanks to the generosity of our donors.
Philanthropic support for our division allows us to:
- Ensure that whether you are a local or from out-of-town, your child make sure your child receives the best care designed to improve his or her physical and mental health, appearance, and overall development.
- Support Patient Navigators for our program that provide aid to those families who may not have the resources to pay for hotel stays or travel to our clinic.
- Host a yearly gatherings and picnics that provides a space for families with similar conditions to connect and share their experiences.
- Send our doctors and staff to formal trainings, where they continue to learn about the latest best practices in caring for children with malformations of the head and neck, trunk, and upper and lower extremities.
- Conduct cutting edge research to learn what we can be doing better.
- Publish the results of our studies so other doctors and patients can benefit from our research programs.
- Train new doctors to carry on our legacy of commitment to patient care.
By giving to the Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery, you’re helping kids get the care they need to improve their lives - whether it be a treatment that improves function or one that improves appearances and allows the child to life free of the psychological effects of looking different. Thank you for your donation and supporting this important work.
