Story
I'm cycling the RBL Pedal to Paris 2022. This is 460km (287 miles) over four-days consecutive days from London to Paris. Day 1 is from London to Dover, from there we catch the ferry to Calais for our first overnight stop. We then continue through France to Paris finishing at the Arc du Triomphe. From London to Paris the ride takes in historic world war locations for our rest stops, so we can pay our respects to the fallen.
This is a ride like no other, each day behind the the riders is an army of RBL support staff, outriders protecting the riders from traffic, medics, bike mechanics to keep the riders rolling to name but a few. But why?
I served for a short period of time in the reserves first before joining the army full time, totalling 6 years. The armed forces is said to be like a close knit family and this is true.
But it's what happens to our veterans once they leave the armed forces, when they have PTSD, missing limbs etc, the RBL steps in to support them where our main social care services do not.
The Legion is here to help members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their families. The Legion support serving and ex-serving personnel all year round, every day of the week.
