Story
As a family, we have decided to set ourselves a wee challenge in order to remember our dear family members Donald (Husband, Grandfather, Father and Brother) and John (Uncle, Brother) MacLeod, both of whom passed away in 2020.
In order to commemorate their lives, we've decided to set ourselves the challenge of hiking to the summit of Ben Nevis, Scotland, on the 9th July, 2021. As well as having a love of the outdoors, both John and Donald also enjoyed the sound of the highland bagpipes. As a family of many avid bagpipers (12 in total), we plan to hike with our pipes and, weather permitting, strike up to play a couple of tunes at the summit; one of which is composed by Al MacLeod in memory of his father, Donald. In the likelihood that the weather is typically wet with the wind howling at the summit, we will then play at the end of the hike in the event tent where shelter will keep the beastly scottish weather at bay.
To add to the challenge, some of us are also going to be hiking Snowdon, in Wales; and The Yorkshire Three Peaks, England, prior to the finale at Ben Nevis, Scotland.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice. We would be so grateful if you could please consider supporting our challenge by donating to Alzheimer's Society. Any donation, big or small, goes a long way.
Thank you very much for your support!
