Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Ashley and a team of his friends are taking on the 3 peak challenge. This consists of hiking the highest mountains in the UK. Starting at Ben Nevis in Scotland followed by Scarfell Pike in England and finishing with Snowdonia in Wales. The object is to finish all 3 peaks in 24 hours. This is a mighty challenge, please show your support. Its all to raise funds for Bens operation and aftercare costs.

The team: Ashley George Cook, Arran Churchill, Grant Edward Pinkney, Sam Tomkins, Sam Huckvale, Anthony Davies, Alison Hurman, Tom Elgar, Sarah Cook, Nikki Francis, Emma Mccance, Mark Harris, Luke Rose
Brynn Tomes, Hannah Robin, Luke Hammond

Ben is 3 years old and has Cerebral Palsy.  His nerves which are damaged in the brain, make his legs and hips stiff. This stiffness is so severe it causes him constant pain/discomfort. It also stops him from being able to strengthen his muscles. He cant sit unaided or walk, yet.

The operation he needs is a Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. This will sever the damaged nerves and end the pain and stiffness. Then with lots of physio he will be able to work towards building the muscles and taking those first steps alongside his little brother Ollie.

For more information on Ben and the operation, along with regular updates please visit www.facebook.com/bensfirststeps
