Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Rwanda Aid is a charity based in Cyangugu in the South-West of Rwanda. Having established Ngwino Nawe, a village for disabled and orphaned children, Rwanda Aid is looking to build a half-way house to create the opportunity for the young adults to graduate from the village and become part of the community.  The aim is for them to have the dual benefits of employment and a secure environment.

The Peace Marathon (The Kigali half-marathon) covers many of Rwanda's famous 'One-thousand Hills' and is ran on May 23rd. It provides a fantastic opportunity to raise money for this 'half-way house' project. For the first time, many of the permanent members of the Rwanda Aid team are getting involved in fund raising and entering the Peace Marathon:
Prince is the charismatic and charming Rwanda Aid Country Manager, Gad the enthusiastic and cheerful Farming Manager and Jonas the multi-talented Rwanda Aid Welfare Manager.

Other Rwanda Aid supporters running the Peace Marathon for the half-way house project include Amy and Andrew. Amy is a VSO volunteer who has been based in Rwanda since September 2008. Andrew has been a Rwanda Aid volunteer since February 2010 and has been involved in the work that is done at Ngwino Nawe.

Thanks for your support

Gad: 'Rwanda Aid does many good things. First and foremost it helps the Rwandan people by building houses for homeless people, orphans and widows. It also provides important training in effective farming techniques and employment for many different groups.'
