Story
The staff at the PDSA Huyton and Kirkdale Pet Hospitals in Liverpool are teaming up to walk the equivalent distance between all of the Pet Hospitals in the UK. We will be starting our virtual journey in Belfast before hopping across to Aberdeen and making our way down the country finishing in Margate. We hope you'll follow our virtual journey and will be updating this page regularly.
We are all very proud to be working for PDSA, especially after seeing how much our Liverpool teams have pulled together during the pandemic. Since the start of the first lock down 12 months ago, both Kirkdale and Huyton hospitals combined have provided 13,175 face to face consultations -putting themselves at risk on the front line to help those who have fallen on hard times and cannot afford veterinary treatment for their pets- performed 1,416 life saving operations and carried out 59,765 telephone consults!
Mental health is something we are really big on at PDSA, walking is a proven method to help with your well-being. It improves self-perception and self-esteem, mood and sleep quality, and it reduces stress, anxiety and fatigue. Our staff members from both Liverpool hospitals are going to be walking the distance between every PDSA hospital in the country! Which totals 2076 miles! We would love to get the public involved with this, by walking 5 miles, donating £5 to our Just Giving page attached to this post, and then screen shotting this and tagging 5 people to follow! We’re really excited for this challenge which will begin on Friday 2nd April and can’t wait to see you all on your walks with your furry friends to support us with this journey... because after all, A WALK A DAY HELPS THE PDSA!
