Story

A good friend of mine asked me last year if I would take on a marathon with him in October 2022. Still rehabbing a fractured ankle I said I'd think about it.

Honestly, I had no desire to ever take on a marathon but the seed was now planted and given that 2022 would mark 10 years since I was affected by Meningitis I thought what better way to celebrate my health, challenge myself and raise some vital funds for a world free from Meningitis.

On March 23rd 2012, I experienced first hand how quickly Meningitis can strike and how devastating it can be for those affected, including friends and family.

Last year, for World Meningitis Day I spoke about my experience of Meningitis to help raise awareness of the symptoms and impact of this deadly disease and you can read more about my experience here:

I'll be raising money and awareness of the amazing, life-saving work of Meningitis Research Foundation who are working tirelessly for a world free from Meningitis by 2030. Please help in any way you can, whether that's donating or simply sharing my posts 😘

Lastly, my running buddy Will is raising money for Young Minds Trust in memory of his younger brother, Oli. You can read his story and donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/will-betts2

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
