Story
We have successfully finished the London Marathon and raised over £6000 for Prostate Cancer Research Centre. Steve's Dad Mick died in 2010 with advanced prostate cancer and Steve was diagnosed with low grade prostate cancer in 2017, so raising money to defeat cancer is a very personal cause for him.
Prostate cancer is an awful disease and affects too many men and their families and friends. Men as a rule are known for not getting themselves checked when it comes to anything to do with the more private functions of their bodies. As a result this has had an affect on the profile and awareness of prostate cancer as a disease.
Progression of the treatment and the amount of funding into the research has suffered for about 70 years. So please be as generous as you can and sponsor our challenge. It is hard work and takes a lot of commitment training, fundraising and running a marathon and the other events, and your donations will be very much appreciated. £6000 will pay for 3 weeks of research by the team of scientists funded by PCRC, 2 years worth of DNA sequencing kits, 60 bottles of liquid food for growing cells, 24 fluorescent antibodies for cancer cell detection, 6000 information booklets.
Over 12,000 men will die this year from prostate cancer. PCRC have a mission to develop new therapy for men with advanced prostate cancer, and they are getting there. Their immediate goal is to increase survival and their vision is a cure for the disease. With your help we can hope to see PCRC achieve that vision.
