Thank you everyone for helping me raise TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY EIGHT PERCENT of my target! That's 2-5-8-% in numbers! It doesn't stop there though - on 11 December I'm moving up to the 10 mile in Stockport (don't ask!). If you haven't already donated (or feel compelled to donate more?), please give what you can!

Only a few days to go - starting to get nerves now! However, training is completed and everyone who's done the event before tells me it's a great atmosphere. I might even go without my earphones to try to soak it up. Massive thanks to everyone who's sponsored me so far - if not, there's still time! Every little helps (thanks Tesco!)

Nearly halfway! A special prize awaits the person who makes the donation that takes me over £100...
Hello, my charitable friends!
As you might already know, I'm running the Great Yorkshire Run this October. Yes, that's right - 10,000 ankle-crushing, nipple-chafing, soul-destroying metres, all in aid of charity!
I took this potentially foolhardy decision in support of a cause very close to my heart. My Granddad suffers from a form of Parkinson's Disease which has left him needing around-the-clock care. It is a horrible disease that has stripped him of his dignity and left him entirely dependent on his family and carers. He is now in the later stages of the illness, which is a truly heart-rending sight for anyone that met him prior to his diagnosis.
The charity I'm supporting is called Parkinson's UK. It is a national organisation that stands up for sufferers who are often unable to stand up for themselves. They provide a support network for sufferers and their families, raise awareness and campaign on issues affecting sufferers, and, most crucially, put millions of pounds into research aimed at finding a cure to this awful disease.
Anything you can spare to support me to support Parkinson's UK will provide a tremendous encouragement when it comes to running the race in October. It will also go to show just what fantastic, generous, beautiful people I have the honour of calling my friends. So please dig deep and give whatever you can to assist this great cause.
With sincere thanks,
Peter
PS. More pictures of my Granddad ritually humiliating my sister may well appear at regular intervals if sponsorship is forthcoming...
