Story
Us girls, Amanda, Eilidh, Jody, Yvonne, Hannah, Sarah, Alison, Angela, Cara, Isabel and Laura are challenging ourselves to walking/running/cycling/swimming 100 miles each in the month of October to raise vital funds for PAWS-GIST Cancer UK, a charity very close to our hearts.
Amanda was diagnosed earlier this year with this very rare form of cancer and is currently waiting to start a clinical trial in Cambridge.
As this type of cancer is so rare, relatively little is known about it and the treatment options are limited. Any funds we can raise will go directly towards improving treatment and research to help find a cure for PAWS-GIST cancer.
GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours) affects around 15 people in every 1 million. PAWS - Paediatric, Adolescent and Wild-Type is an even rarer form of the cancer, which is the type Amanda has.
We appreciate that everyone's purse strings are tight at the moment, but any donations, big or small, that you can give this worthwhile cause would be very much appreciated.
This will certainly be a challenging month - we're all undertaking this separately but together, each of us in different circumstances - busy mums, busy working, busy working mums! The days are getting shorter and the weather will no doubt be inclement, but whatever the weather, we'll be out clocking up the miles - for Amanda and for PAWS-GIST.
Tapadh leibh,
