Story
At the start of November 2012 Sophie’s mum passed away after being diagnosed with cancer the previous year. Before she died, Sophie promised her mum that she would run a marathon and we’d hoped that Annette would have been well enough to see this happen.
In December 2013 the family took part in the Princess Alice Hospice 5k Santa run, around Richmond Park, to raise money for the hospice where Annette spent her last days. Following the rather embarrassing performance in this 5k charity run we decided to fully embrace the concept of running and complete a full marathon at the start of 2014 in memory of Annette.
In the mean time to make sure we did some training (at which neither of us are very good at) we signed ourselves up for a collection of race events!
Training began in January 2013 (after the Xmas cake had been finished off), with success being judged by the number of lampposts that we managed to run between, but soon escalated to full race events with numbers, timing chips and people handing you water.
