In March 2011 I decided to set myself the challenge of a lifetime; I committed to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2012.

 

This challenge is more than the 7 days on the mountain for me. I will be spending the next 7 months of my life attempting to get fit, building up stamina and raising money for a very worthy cause indeed. For those of you that know me, you will understand what really makes this a challenge for me and for those that do not know me, I am registered blind which adds an additional level of complexity whilst attempting to summit the world's tallest stand alone mountain!

 

Mount Kilimanjaro stands some 5985 meters above sea level, that's around 19,000Ft or 3.5 miles!
