Fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer
On 30th April 2016, I'll be joining a team taking on the Isle of Wight Challenge, 106km walk around the island. I'm hoping to complete this within 24 hours.
I'm taking on this challenge in order to raise money for CLIC Sargent, the only charity which exists to offer all round support to children suffering from cancer, and their families. They are the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families.
Shortly after her 3rd birthday, my niece Ella (pictured above) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, a disease that affects about 1 in every 10,000 children. The way Ella approached her fight has been a source of huge inspiration to me, and to everyone who knows her.
Two and a bit years later, Ella (now 5) has finally finished her treatment. Throughout the experience, I know that CLIC Sargent were an enormous source of strength for my sister, Louise, and her family. Throughout Ella's treatment, they offered practical and emotional support. This was particularly important in the early days after diagnosis, but continued to be invaluable throughout the journey.
