Hi everyone.
Well, I'm back fundraising again! I've mustered the family and we have a new recruit, Tim, who like me had a Stroke. I first got to know him when I went swimming, then I persuaded him to join White Lodge. Now, he has been badgered to do an exercise class with me too!
What are we doing?
We are participating in the SuperHeroes Tri, see: https://superheroseries.co.uk/
The Carters are accompanying me in a 150m swim in Dorney Lake (where they had rowing in the Olympics), and then as I (tri)cycle 3km around the lake. Finally, Tim is joining us for a 1km walk. Afterwards, we collapse and have a well deserved picnic - hope the weather is good.
Why are we doing it?I, like so many of the people who use White Lodge, am dependent on its services. Most of us relied upon our range of weekly activities and interventions just to maintain mobility let alone progress. White Lodge has been brilliant in trying to get things back to the levels they were before Covid, but the stark reality is that, without more funds having not had the same opportunities to raise money during Covid restrictions, they cannot.
I used to have treatment from a physiotherapist once a week, now it is once a month with exercise sessions for the other weeks. I can feel myself regressing, which makes this year’s Superhero Tri challenge even more daunting than when I did it 3 years ago.
So, I know first-hand how important White Lodge is to people, and how hard it is to regain mobility when access to the help we needed before is still limited. But, that is why we want to raise whatever we can to help White Lodge get its wonderful range of services back up to full strength.
Please help us by giving as much as you are able.
Thank you,
Pauline, Tim and Co.
