Story
I swim because I love being in the water and I am a skins swimmer so always swim without a wetsuit.
If you like to follow my swims then please spare a few pennies ( or pounds ) to help my chosen charity - The Chestnut Appeal for prostate cancer.
So far in 2015 I have already swum 2 Ice Miles ( that's a swim of one mile in water at a temperature of 5 degrees or less wearing just a swimsuit - no wetsuit ). I am one of only 130 people to have swum an Ice Mile and the only woman in the world to have swum 3 Ice Miles.
My ice swimming adventures have also taken me to Estonia where i won the gold medal in the marathon Winter Swimming event by swimming 1200 metres in 1.7 degree water in 28 minutes as well as taking silver in the endurance 450 metres.
My biggest challenge this year will be in July when I will be swimming The English Channel as a solo swimmer. That's 21 miles of swimming across the Dover Strait which is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world so in addition to wind and waves there will also be ships and tankers ( and jellyfish !! ) to contend with.
