Event: Trek26 Brecon Beacons - 26 miles, on 4 September 2021
In memory of Roy Stokes
Journey through a spectacular area of wild moorland, tumbling waterfalls and sweeping mountain slopes in the Brecon Beacons. Trek for loved ones, and raise money so together we can find a cure.

Story

My nephew and myself are doing this to help raise money for a charity close to us. My grandfather Roy sadly lost his battle with dementia a few years ago now but we still think about him often. He was one of the kindest most caring men i knew. I missed my opportunity to say goodbye because i didn't want to see him if he wouldn't remember me. I saw what that did to my mother and i didn't want to remember him that way. I wanted to remember him at his best. Making people happy on his fairground ride he used to run at festivals and fetes. Always smiling, always happy.

The battle is one each and every family member goes through, hopefully in years to come we will be able to understand dementia a little better.
