Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am undertaking this Grand Canyon Trek in May 2010 in memory of my mum, Bernadette (Bernie), whom I miss very much. Mum was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer early August 2009 but sadly passed away on 2 October 2009. It was, and still is, hard to accept that mum had this dreadful disease for so long before diagnosis - the nature and position of the tumour dictating that she had only a ''small number of weeks'' to live.
Consequently, I want to make my contribution to Action Cancer's mission of early detection and cancer prevention - to give others a chance that was out of my mum's reach.
This 60 mile trek over 5 days in searing heat will be a tough challenge for me, physically and mentally, however it will be nothing compared to the daily challenge for those living with cancer - patients, family and friends alike.
If you would like to support my fundraising effort for Action Cancer and their many local services, you can donate online, sponsor me in person, or by attending one of my planned fundraising activities.
The first confirmed event is a Pub Quiz and Raffle in McAleer's Bar, Dungannon, Thursday 11 February @ 9.00pm.
