I have continued to be moved by the heartfelt bereavement stories of parents supported by SANDS Lothians so have chosen to do some further fundraising for this fantastic charity.
15 babies die every day in the UK and last year there were about 60 baby deaths in the Lothians area. This figure is far too high as each family is left heartbroken forever. They have to adjust to the shocking news their baby hasn’t survived and then try and live each day after. All those hopes and dreams shattered. SANDS Lothians don’t think families should have to do this alone.
For the last 30 years, SANDS Lothians has offered support, understanding and help of both a practical and emotional nature to bereaved parents who have experienced the death of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or soon after birth.
I will be taking part in many running challenges/events to help raise awareness of the great work carried out by the charity and to help raise vital funds.
With the big challenges at the moment being:
* Saturday 29th June - Arthur’s Seat 15 lap challenge (50 miles)
* October - 7 marathons in 7 days during Baby Loss Awareness Week
