Hi folks – we would really like your support. Myself and Paul are attempting to complete the “BANGER RALLY – BARMY TO BARCELONA RALLY” between the 4 & 8 July.

For details please see the information below, however the concept is simple:

 Buy an old banger car (max £300), paint it up with a wacky paint job, dress up in fancy dress, get sponsored for a good cause, and drive the most difficult route from Lille in northern France over 4 days to the Spanish city of Barcelona, along with 60 other likeminded teams. At the end of a long first day we arrive at the Swiss ski resort of Thun. On day 2 we drive to the ski resort of Saux D’Olux in the Italian Alps via 5 high alpine passes, day 3 is back to Arles in southern France, with day 4 being the final leg to Las Ramblas in the heart of Barcelona for a huge party.

Most people scrap their blinged up old banger in Barcelona but Paul and myself are the only ones daft / brave enough to bring the car home via the Pyrenees and the Santander ferry to Plymouth.

We have bought an old ROVER 600  and have entered the rally as TEAM JESTER. Both of us will be wearing Jester fancy dress outfits for the duration of the rally and we hope to win additional monies for our charity from the daily challenges and spot prizes that are on offer. The car is currently being painted with hundreds of harlequin coloured squares. Our chosen charity which is ACTION ON ELDER ABUSE. This underfunded charity has been chosen as my  work involves mitigating risk for vulnerable older adults in Kirklees and Pauls’  work with care homes and the Adult Protection Unit in Bradford overlaps. All sponsorship money raised will be going to ACTION ON ELDER ABUSE, we have prepaid all accommodation, meals and ferry crossings.
