Iron Butt Rally · 30 May 2009
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
In August this year I am riding in the Iron Butt Rally. This is an eleven day endurance motorcycle competition held every two years in north america, which could be described as trans continental orienteering on a motorcycle. I've entered the event three times before and it is really really hard. Most days I'll end up riding a thousand miles and grab a few hours sleep on the ground next to the bike. More information about this event can be found at www.ironbuttrally.com
I haven't used the event for fund raising before, but I'm a member of the Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team and it is well worth supporting. As volunteers we give our time to the team freely, but the team receives no external funding and relies on donations to fund the costs of our vehicles, base, equipment and training, which enable us to provide an emergency search and rescue service throughout County Durham from the high Pennines to the coast.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. None of the sponsorship money funds my participation in the event.
So please sponsor me now!
