Story

My beautiful, amazing, young at heart Dad was devastatingly diagnosed with Myeloma (cancer arising in the bone marrow) in July 2015. Whilst treatable, there is currently no cure. My Dad was not ready to leave this world and still had so much he wanted to do. Nobody could have fought harder, but Myeloma nevertheless took his life in June 2020. Those 5 years were so unbelievably hard for him and all the people who loved him dearly.

Myeloma UK was a huge source of information and support to me - particularly in the final traumatic weeks of my Dad's life. They advocate strongly on behalf of Myeloma patients - funding research and clinical trials for new treatments and lobbying for new drugs to be made available. My Dad's life was definitely prolonged by some of these treatments.

I stand shoulder to shoulder with them in their quest to find a cure for what has to be the cruellest disease in the world. It's my dearest wish to see this happen.

My beautiful Summerfield, I love you so much. I'm glad that there's no more pain and no more fear. I'm glad you're having a lovely rest at last. But I miss you terribly every day, and there's a massive great hole in my life that will never be filled. You were so unbelievably strong for so long and that will continue to inspire me until the wonderful day I see you again.

I just wish Myeloma had never picked you. What did you ever do to deserve it?  I'm still shocked at the manner in which it took your life. I don't want it to take any more lives in such a heartbreaking way. It may think it won S, but it is so very mistaken. It has no idea who it's dealing with. The fight has passed to me now and I'm carrying my hate for it like a fire in my heart. So, as you would say S, challenge? BRING IT ON !!💪
