On 25th September 2022, I'm going to run the Winchester Hilly 10K race to support the Winchester Hospice. Running, which I love, gets even better if you can help others while enjoying this wonderful and healthy activity. I can't even dream of raising so much money as Tom Moore did for the NHS, of course :-), but with your donation we can boost the capability of the hospice to provide the best possible care for every patient.

The hospice is part of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT), which is where I work. A few weeks ago, in a weekly HHFT communications email, I saw an advert of the Winchester Marafun, which includes a half marathon and a Hilly 10 Km race, with a call to fundraise for Winchester Hospice. I saw this as an opportunity to do something useful for others with my physical activity. Running for the hospice is my tiny contribution to alleviate suffering at the end of other people’s lives. It’s a way of turning something I enjoy by myself, running, into the common good.

El 25 de septiembre de 2022 voy a participar en la carrera Winchester
Hilly 10K, una carrera de 10 Km con fuertes pendientes en Winchester, en el condado de Hampshire, en Inglaterra, para recaudar fondos para el Hospital para enfermos terminales de Winchester. Correr, que me encanta, es aún mejor si puedes ayudar a otros mientras disfrutas de esta actividad tan estupenda y saludable. Ni se me ocurre soñar con recaudar tanto dinero como consiguió Tom Moore para el NHS (National Health Service, el servicio nacional de salud del Reino Unido), claro :-), pero con tu donación podemos ayudar al hospital a proporcionar la mejor atención posible a cada paciente.

El hospital es parte de la Fundación Hospitales del NHS de Hampshire, en la que trabajo. Hace unas pocas semanas, en uno de los e-mails semanales de la Fundación, vi un anuncio del Marafun de Winchester, que incluye un medio maratón y una carrera de 10 Km, con la posibilidad de correr para recaudar fondos para el Hospital para enfermos terminales. Vi esto como una oportunidad de hacer algo útil para los demás con mi actividad física. Correr para recaudar fondos para el hospital es mi grano de arena para intentar reducir el sufrimiento de otras personas al final de su vida. Es una forma de hacer que correr, algo que disfruto en solitario, se convierta en bien común.
