Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have been motivated to raise funds for Diabetes UK in memory of a dearly loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend - Michael Walsh - who sadly passed away in 2020 aged 30 due to diabetic complications.
His family and friends miss his lively, caring personality, humour and generous spirit, so very much.
On 8th January we are walking all the London Bridges which is about a 30 mile route march. Some friends and family will join us and will be asking their contacts for support/donations too. Whatever you feel you can spare would be hugely appreciated.
Our heartfelt thanks to you
Peter Newman and Paula Porter
UPDATE
The morning after the day before !! A. few sore feet and legs but we all made it - 25 walkers, (including a dog for the last few bridges!) 10.25 hours, 30.2 miles/48.4km, 70,500 steps - all in the pouring rain. We had some marvellous volunteers who set up soup kitchen style outdoor refreshment stops, and everyone encouraged each other to keep going when the going got tough. We had a surprise welcome committee at the end who saved us much needed seats in the pub and had made morale boosting placards. I suspect none of us will be doing much today other than sofa, tv, maybe a massage, and in Pete's case probably the pub!
Thank you thank you thank you to all who took part on the day and all our wonderful friends and family who have donated to such a worthy cause.
We couldn't have done it without you.
