Story

UPDATE: 26th July 2010

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

British Gas Great Swim series - SWIM LONDON - on 3rd July!

For some reason the date is wrong on this page.. I've already done it!  It was an amazing day and everyone who came along were an inspiration. Much love and thanks :) x

So thrilled to have exceeded my target for Epilepsy Action! Thank you!

To tell the truth, after 3 minutes in the water I wanted to get out and give up.. it was much harder than I expected, my wetsuit didn't give, goggles leaked and it was a really long way.. What was I thinking! I hadn't even done a training swim in open water.  Then the woman in front of me got into difficulties and I realised I wasn't that bad (so gracious in victory) and if I didn't go under the water and recovered regularly on my back..I might be ok. So I just kept on.. a little bit further.  Would love to do it again - maybe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm aiming to swim a mile in the Thames, London to raise money for Epilepsy Action - a charity which isn't high profile and sexy but is an essential lifeline that takes away a little of the fear and works so hard to educate and empower.

I shouldn't do this really because I'm the wrong side of 45,  I hate getting wet and cold, up to last month the furthest I'd swum (swam?) was 3 lengths,  feel like a blancmange afterwards - and during,  and I'm a bit scared of deep dark, murky water..  still haven't found a pair of goggles that fit!  ..and where the hell do you get changed?

Why I'm doing it:. everyone living with epilepsy who refuses to be defined by a condition.

Page is a bit naff..will come back and jazz it up later :)
