Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As most of you are aware we have been training for the great north run for a few months now and it has been a great experience so far! Dont get me wrong its not been without its drama, blood, sweat and tears (not to mention the attractive loss and black toenails) - but then knowing Heather and I you would expect nothing less!!!
We are raising money for Autism Speaks which is a charity close to all our hearts. Our little mate Brookie was diagnosed with autism around 2 years ago. Brookie is 5 now and is coming on in leaps and bounds. He never ceases to amaze us all with his progress and long may it continue. Autism is a life long brain disorder, people with autism have difficulty comunicating and forming relationships and find it hard to make sense of the world around them. Research continues to find out exactly what causes it, in fact finding the cause of autism is one of the most challenging areas facing medical science. So please give generously and lets raise as much as we can so that we can improve the quality of life for those living with this confusing and isolating condition.
So wish us luck - trust me we are going to need it. Somehow we will get through it - running, walking, crawling who knows, who cares as long as we get to the finish. In fact it has been suggested that Heath may have to drag me to the finish by my hair (so does that mean that false hair and eyelashes are out for the day???)
Thank you all so much for your help, support and advice so far. Joking aside for both of us, just thinking about helping to give Brookie a brighter future will make it all worthwhile.
