Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've decided to raise money for CrossReach as I used their services after Joshua was born and I will always be grateful for what they did for me.

After Joshua was born I suffered from postnatal depression. It was a very difficult, dark and often scary time. A time in your life that should be filled with happiness and joy, but for so many people it is lonely and a daily struggle.

I went to the doctor for help, but when I didn't want the pills that were being offered, the only alternative was counselling. This service isn't available on the NHS. That's where CrossReach steps in.

I received counselling on a weekly basis for months. They also offered me many other services too, including weekly baby massage classes. These classes were fantastic as I was often too anxious to attend regular baby massage sessions. Cross Reach offered a safe place for me and others like me, to take our babies, be shown new skills and all whilst understanding our needs as mums who were going through a tough time.

The weekly counselling sessions were a life saver. My counsellor was a volunteer, who travelled through from Glasgow to Milton Road every Monday. Because that's what keeps the service ticking - a team of amazing volunteers. Like the volunteers that run the crèche so your child is looked after while you have your counselling session.

In exchange for the services you receive CrossReach asks only for a donation. They never turn anyone away, even if they can't afford to contribute anything. Only 5% of their funding comes from the NHS. They rely upon donations and grants. It's not a charity you think about until you need to use it. In fact, you might not have even heard of it before. But let me assure you, when you are desperate and you don't know where to turn, you'll be grateful that this wonderful charity does exist.

So, I've decided to try and raise some money to say thank you to them for all the help and support they gave me. But I need your help to do that. Please give whatever you can. It will all be very much appreciated!

Thank you!
