On Sunday 8th September I will be taking part in the Great North Run, running 13.1miles, this year I will be running for a very personal reason and raising money for the Stroke Unit at Calderdale Hospital. Strokes are something that have happened a few times in my family, just over two weeks ago my Dad suffered from one after having an angiogram after suffering from a heart attack three weeks ago. My Dad has been fairly lucky he still has a way to go but has made some good progress and this is partly due to the care and therapy he has received from the team on the Stroke Unit. I have been so proud of my Dad in the way that he has handled things and I will take his courage and determination with me on the run to ensure that I make him proud of me. This is my way of hopefully giving some thanks back to the people who have cared for him.
