Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I didn't think I could run a half-marathon a few months ago, but now that I've applied and am doing it to raise money for Diabetes UK, I had better get on with it!
I have had type 1 diabetes for over 23 years now, and have regularly used Diabetes UK's resources personally and at my work. Training for events like this provides challenges to diabetics like me, who have to adjust eating patterns and insulin injection doses with their training, but I know that I can manage it and have used invaluable advice from Diabetes UK to help my regime.
Diabetes UK raises money to provide educational resources and diabetes nurses used throughout the country. They also campaign on issues such as driving license regulations, access to new medications and fund research into diabetes in this country. They provide grants to students in life sciences who have diabetes, to encourage them through their studies, and I often use their website and booklets for information.
I managed to raise £300 for Diabetes UK last year running the Glasgow 10K so am aiming higher at £350 for this longer challenge. Anything that you can give to help is appreciated.
