We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page.
On Sunday the 25th April I am going to be pounding the streets in the London Marathon to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society who help support younger people with dementia.
As most of you are aware my Mum was diagnosed with Early Onset Dementia in September 2007. During the last three years the Alzheimer's Society has given our family a huge amount of advice and support.
Most people think of dementia as a condition affecting older people only. However, dementia can affect anyone, at any age. There is little awareness or understanding of people who develop dementia at an early age, and this can make it very difficult for younger people to access adequate support.
At the moment there are more than 15,000 people between 30 and 65 years of age with dementia in the . However, this number is likely to be an under-estimate, and the true figure may be up to three times higher. Data on the numbers of people with early onset dementia are based on referrals to services, but not all those with early onset dementia seek help in the early stages of the disease.
The symptoms and stigma of dementia may be similar whatever a person's age, but younger people may have different needs, and their problems often require a different approach and a tremendous amount of support and understanding.
So please dig deep and donate now and help the Alzheimer’s Society support younger people with dementia.
Thanks
Paul

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
