Paul's 4:24 Ultra Run

4:24 Ultra Run · 24 April 2021
Firstly, thank you so much for visiting my page and finding out more about my challenge.
Many of you know that just over 2 years ago I ran from my home in Lee on the Solent to St Margret's Hospice in Yeovil where Dad passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer; some 86 miles were covered and I secretly vowed to myself (because I promised Mum I wouldn't do any more silly events) to some day cover 100 miles on foot - I feel I have been too close to 100 miles not to take up the challenge!
So....in order to accomplish it I have dreamt up the 4:24 Ultra Run Challenge - to run 4 miles, every hour, on the hour for 24 hours. For the mathematicians amongst you, yes, that's 96 miles, I will therefore then cover one final 4 mile loop to reach the magical 100 miles. I will start at 4:24pm on 24/4, finishing on 25/4 which is Dads Birthday, so a very poignant day fo me and my family.
The more people who have become aware of this challenge the more have said I MUST do it for charity; something I originally had thought about but felt it was more a personal goal - but, I have been overwhelmed by peoples support and well wishes so far, so convinced to do it for a charity that lay close to my heart, Pancreatic Cancer UK.
More than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Your donations will help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.
Once again, thank you for reading, following and supporting this challenge - 4:24........its On!!!!
