Story
I appreciate your curiosity in visiting my page!
For those that know me, I am a short, fat and fairly unfit individual! Who should not be allowed to do the Wolf Run! I have been told I need to get fit, and have decided to do so by facing a number of challenges during 2014. It has however been pointed out to me that many people would pay good money to see me suffer, so the idea was born to raise some sponsorship for a good cause!
I thought long and hard, which charity to support. I initially thought of one or two of the popular well known charities. But then recently I received an out of the blue SOS call, from a retired work mate, Ralph's daughter. Appealing to all of her fathers friends in the aviation world for help getting her seriously ill father home for emergency treatment. Thankfully Ralph's insurance company managed to medivac him back to the UK. I had known Ralph since 2001 and had no idea he was a haemophiliac, or that his grandson was also a sufferer of the disease. I also admit I knew very little of haemophilia, and realised that this was a good opportunity to raise as much awareness as possible as well as funding, for the haemophilia society. We hope also to make people more aware of the condition and how the society assists the sufferers as well as their friends and families.
I shall therefore be running the Wolf run with Jim Dabell at 11:50 on 27th April. If you want to come along in person to witness our suffering, cheer us on or to hurl abuse, the address is Welsh Road Farm, Welsh Road, Leamington Spa, CV33 9BG. www.thewolfrun.com, be good to see you all.
I believe there is a hog roast and beers at the finish line, at least that's what will keep me going till the line!
My old friend Ralph is continuing his battle as we speak, let's try raise as much as we can, in the hope that Ralph's grandson and others can benefit from the society's work!
I really am nowhere near fit enough for this challenge, it is only your generosity that will force me over the finish line!
Please follow my progress on Facebook, if I survive the Wolf, I will also be requiring your support in my next challenge!

Below is a message from Nina Benscher from the Haemophilia Society.
The Haemophilia Society is the only UK wide charity there to support all people affected by bleeding disorders. Since 1950 we have provided information, support and advocacy for all those that have needed extra care to help them through the many transitions in their life that have been affected by their condition.
There are currently 23,700 people in the UK with a bleeding disorder and the number only goes up every year. We strive to provide the extra support needed allowing people to live a fulfilled and healthy life such as;
• Weekends away for families with a child that is newly diagnosed so they can learn and understand the condition that at first is extremely scary
• Children’s activity weekends so kids can meet others in similar situations to them, educate them about their condition and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle
• Local community support through our 12 local groups across the UK
• Information for women who also have bleeding disorders (although it is often only seen that men have it)
• Support for those growing elderly who may be losing their independence and becoming more isolated.
Information and peer support for those with an Inhibitor
At every stage of life we aim to be there for the people who need us however, due to the rarity of the disease and our Government funding of £100,000 being cut this year, we rely on donations from the general public and hope that by raising awareness of the condition and the impact it can have on a person’s life, more people will reach out and support the only charity there for all those affected. The Haemophilia Society is under supported due to the rarity of the disease making it almost invisible to the general public. When approaching supporters and funders we first have to explain what bleeding disorders are before we begin to explain the great work we do and why we need their support. This makes it extremely challenging in an already difficult economic environment to raise the vital funds needed to give the bleeding disorder community the services they deserve and require.
We appreciate all the support you can give.
