Paul Shelley - 2016 Big Bad Bike Ride Sponsorship

Big Bad Bike Ride 2016 · 10 September 2016 ·
On the 10th September I will be taking part in the Big Bad Bike Ride, a 100km circuit through the Yorkshire Wolds. I'll be undertaking the ride with colleagues from The Concerto Group in aid of Ataxia.
Ataxia means 'absence of order' and people with Ataxia have problems with co-ordination. There are many different forms of cerebellar Ataxia, most are inherited with the most common being Friedreich's ataxia. This is a degenerative neurological disorder which usually becomes apparent in children when they reach the age of 7 years and upwards. It attacks the central nervous system and by the age of 13 a child will be likely to have to use a wheelchair.
There is currently no cure and no treatment for Friedreich's ataxia however all the funds raised from the Big Bad Bike Ride will be directed to research projects currently underway in the UK and Europe.
