Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page for Couch Classic 2016.
Last year the team raised over £15,000 for the amazing charity Teens Unite and this year the bar has been raised … we are looking to smash a massive £60,000 between us. So your help is going to be greatly appreciated!
Teens Unite (registered charity number 1118361) is committed to improving the lives of young people who are experiencing cancer and other life limiting diseases. The work they do is life changing for the 13-24 year olds they take care of. They provide ongoing long term support through treatment and remission, but the best part is the fun element – getting young people together in a fun-filled environment where they can gain strength by sharing their experiences. It offers a real sense of family.
What is Couch Classic?
Gerry Couch was involved in a car accident on the Spanish
island of Mallorca in 2015 and tragically, his injuries proved fatal. A warm Irishman from Waterford, Gerry made friends wherever he went, and had made his home in a number of countries across the world, including Spain. A true adventure lover and soul of generosity, he enriched the lives of many people.
So it is in Gerry’s honour that Couch Classic was launched last year, and in his honour that we are getting together again from 14th to 16th
October this year to do him proud and raise as much as we can for Teens Unite, a charity very much in the heart of Gerry’s son Gary.
Our Challenge?
Couch Classic is sponsored by Islandbridge Capital Ltd and
Sunseeker London Group. Our challenge is to cycle over 153 miles in just three days. Our starting point is the port of Puerto Portals in the lively bay of Palma on the western side of Mallorca. It’s here we’ll hit what we have been informed is going to be seriously demanding cross country terrain – so the training is in full swing! The journey will take us uphill and down, until we reach Port Adriano near Santa Ponsa on the far west of the island. Please wish us luck!
I have made a commitment to raise £1,000, so any help you
can give me would be hugely appreciated. Even the smallest donations will make a difference. Thank you so much in advance.
