We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Would like to thank everyone who sponsored me to complete this walk. You have all made the effort worth while. Thank you.

Its the day after the event. What a great feeling of personal achievement and sense of pride. I am feeling emotional about it today especially as my uncle is currently fighting his battle. This is dedicated to those shining on us and those whose battles continue. Its time to beat cancer.

Hello and welcome to my JustGiving page.

My name is Paul and this is all about my mum.

My beautiful mum passed away on the 22nd April 2012 aged 62 from a form of pancreatic cancer. She had been suffering with abdominal pain very similar in nature to gallstones but not as severe. We all believed this would resolve itself and she would get better.

It was about 6-8 weeks from when the problems first began to appear to when she died. It was so sudden and shock to us all at the rapid deterioration. This is why i want to raise awareness.

But this page is about the celebration of her life and not her death.

My mum was the best mum in the world. I cannot share a lifetime of happiness in a few paragraghs but i can say i have laughed and cried with her at many things in my life. She had a terrific sense of humour. I remember taking her home in the car one time and telling her a funny story and as i was laughing so she began. In the end i pulled over because i could not see where i was going and we just continued laughing. I could not tell you to this day what the story was about but i remember her laughter..

She taught me how to jive and play the spoons. She used to stand on the sidelines of the football pitch in the rain with my dad watching me and cheering me on. Not that i always appreciated it!! Teenagers eh? She taught the difference between right and wrong and never stopped loving me when i was bad. Always there!!!

This is my first charity fundraising effort in my mum's memory and honour but it will not be the last. I remember how courageous and selfless she was in the last few days especially as she was asking how everyone else were coping at the news of her prognosis and that is what i want the world to remember about her.

Your donations are all so valuable and mean so much that my mum would be somewhat embarrassed but honoured at the same time.

Enjoy the pictures and thanks for your support. Paul
