Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My wife Christina was diagnosed with a very rare endocrine condition called Addisons disease 20 Years ago in 2002. It affects around 1 in 10,000 people and is where the adrenal glands cease to function, so that your body no longer produces enough of certain essential hormones, known as steroid hormones. The adrenal glands are small triangular shaped glands that sit on top of your kidneys. Their job is to produce the hormones that keep the body functioning properly.
Fortunately, you can replace these essential hormones with daily steroid tablets, which results in our house being like a mini-Pharmacy at times!
Christina joined the self-help group almost straight after diagnosis and over the Years they have provided brilliant knowledge and support which has allowed her to live a normal life despite this condition. This is why I chosen the Addisons self help group as my charity for the Trek.
If you are able to support this amazing charity in any way with a donation then the work they do to support newly diagnosed sufferers can continue for current and future generations.
About the Trek
Rapidly approaching the half Century milestone, I wanted a physical and mental challenge so I have joined 9 others all raising money for different charities to scale Kilimanjaro in September 2022.
We are climbing (crawling undoubtedly!) to reach the Uhuru Peak via the Lemosho route over 8 days (6 up and 2 down). The trek is over 96km with the peak a nudge under 6,000 meters.
Thanks again for your support!
