In 1984 I lost my Mum to cancer, she was 39, and spent her last days being cared for by the wonderful staff at The Christie.
The Christie not only looks after patients but does the most amazing, pioneering research into this terrible disease.
On 26th April a fire broke out in the CRUK Institute at The Christie. This unit carries out groundbreaking research into DNA cell repair.
Among the equipment lost was the centre’s £1.4m Trudon super computer, which is used to analyse and store large amounts of DNA data, two DNA sequencing machines used to analyse patients’ tumours, together worth £700,000, and two imaging machines used to analyse individual cells from tumours worth more than £1m.
Everyone knows someone who has suffered or lost loved ones to cancer.
The Christie needs your help.
