The Mental Health Foundation believe no-one living in the UK should be deprived of the opportunity for good mental health because of who they are, the community they come from or where they live. We’re developing better ways to support good mental health in every community.

Story

Why mental health?

Sometimes, you walk around a shop, or at work, or on the road... You may be driving your car, and be stuck in traffic, and just looking at the person driving next to you, or in front of you... Chances are that they are suffering from mental health issues.

It could be someone you know very well, someone that looks at you and smiles... Someone that seems "normal" and even happy...

It is so easy to judge, or have prejudice against certain people... But when you dig deeper, and you start talking to people, something becomes immediately apparent. We are all struggling. Struggling to cope with so many different things... what one might wave off as insignificant, another person may suffer in silence. Because there is a stigma attached to metal health... And we have grown up thinking that it is "Bad" or "weak" or just unacceptable...

With prevention at the heart of what they do, the Mental Health Foundation aim to find and address the sources of mental health problems so that people and communities can thrive.
