Story

A while back, I volunteered to become a befriender with Age
UK Burton and they soon put me in contact with Christel. Christel desperately wanted someone to help write down her memoirs and, for an hour each week, we began the process of recording her life story. The finished product - ‘My Name Is Christel’ - is an amazing recount of this remarkable lady’s journey through life: from her childhood in East Germany during the end of World War Two; her escape through Berlin to the West at the start of the Cold War and her life in England with her new family. It is truly an amazing story.

Next week, I am running the Virgin Money London Marathon in support of Age UK.

I am running for Age UK because I believe that many older
people have great stories to tell and no-one to tell them to. Loneliness and isolation prevent important memories from being passed on. Age UK raises funds to fight loneliness and support those who are vulnerable.

Please consider making a small donation on my JustGiving page.

Thanks – for your support. Paul.
