Story
Save The Children works every day to improve the lives of the world's most vulnerable children; like thirteen year-old Alemstehay from Ethiopia.
She lives in the highlands of north-eastern Ethiopia. She and her family are chronically ill and they have had to mortgage their land to pay for treatment. Save The Children is improving healthcare in Ethiopia by training health workers, providing equipment to health facilities and constructing health posts in remote rural areas, including Alemstehay's village. In addition they are working with the Ethiopian Government to devise an affordable healthcare system.
Since 2003, Reckitt Benckiser has donated £4million to Save the Children and over £2million has been raised by RB employees. We now hope to raise £10 million and save 1 million children’s lives by 2020, so we need your support.
As part of this effort I will be taking part in the London Marathon 2011, on behalf of Save The Children. Not only is this for a great cause, but it is also a massive personal challenge, as while I am generally physically fit, I have never run (not even a 5k run) as I suffer from painful shin splints.
Please make my pain worthwhile! Thanks to the support from people like you, Save The Children can continue to work across the world as well as in the UK, so please give generously.
