Story

24 April UPDATE:   I am pleased to say I completed the Marathon on Sunday 22 April in the not so record tiem of 4hrs 45 minutes - a PB, but not the time I was secretly hoping for.  Nevertheless, I am very pleased to have raised so much for Team PB.  2 really great charities and, in Team PB, an incredibly well run Charity Marathon Team - full of support etc.  Feel free to keep giving!

If you have clicked this far, I am very grateful that you are considering making a donation to Team PB - The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care (who have combined forces this year to create TeamPB).

For sure, you will know someone close to home who has been affected by one of these two cancers.  Prostate and Breast Cancer are the two most common cancers in men and women, with nearly 90,000 people every year affected.  Both charities fund research, and provide support and information for everyone affected.  I have seen at first hand only a few months ago how the support these charities provide is so vital at a time which is so bewildering, and always comes totally out of the blue.

I am aiming to raise at least £3,000 and promise this is the last time I will be doing this (the marathon that is!).  I have never run 26.2 miles - but have plenty of inspiration to succeed, not least the long list of you who have breezed around the London marathon - as though it is a Sunday stroll!  My training is going to plan - but, for me, this is really no walk in the park!

Please donate - please say you pay tax (if you do) and please come along on April 22nd - watching the London Marathon for the last few years made me do it.  It could be you next year!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please dig deep if you can.  Thank you.

The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care have teamed up joint official charities for the 2012 Virgin London Marathon. Together we are TeamPB! Our goal is to recruit our biggest team to date and to raise £1 million to help change the lives of those affected by prostate and breast cancer. Prostate cancer and breast cancer are the most common cancers in men and women respectively in the UK today. This year 37,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 50,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Combined, more than 750,000 people are living with these two cancers in the UK right now. By running together we can raise more awareness and more money to support the more than 750,000 people living with these two cancers in the UK right now. Donations and Gift Aid made to the Team PB JustGiving pages will be split 50/50 between both charities.
