We fund research and offer support to beat the isolation of macular disease

Story

. A year ago this week (10/1/21) i noticed i was having an issue with my right eye and something serious was up. I went to the eye infirmary and got told i had 3 blood clots behind the eye and got diagnosed with Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO). In a 5 year period less than 5000 people under the age of 40 suffered from this condition worldwide (I’m special, i know 🤣). I got treatment in my eye by getting a needle injected in my eye every 4 weeks from January to September, unfortunately my eye was past the point of saving and now I’m permanently blind in my right eye. I’ve spent the last 12 months having to learn how to do different things again such as driving in the dark. My hand-eye coordination no longer exists as i don’t have a good depth perception anymore.

The Macular Society are a charity who work alongside people who have lost their vision and try to help people to relearn the simplest of tasks again that we all take for granted.

I’ve decided to do the the Great North Run 2022 for the macular society and if anybody could spare £1 or £2 to help me reach me target it would be much appreciated. Cheers
